In 2018 the Crown placed the stewardship of the Kaiapoi Red Zone Land in the hands of the Waimakariri District Council, this guiding document was to be followed and approved projects were being completed in a timely manner.
The Local Government Act 2002 states that the purpose of local government is to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of, communities.
As the map indicates the former Red Zone Areas is a significant parcels of land which are public amenites.
